September 4, 1926 – June 9, 2021

Alma Hughes Daniel, 94, of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Wednesday June 9, 2021 after a brief illness resulting from a fall in her home.

Alma was born on September 4, 1926 in Roxboro, NC; she was the youngest of three children raised by William Henry and Ora Hughes.

Her previous death husband Richard Edward Daniel, her brother Vincent Hughes, and her beloved sister Janie Rampey.

She leaves behind her son Edward Hughes Daniel, her nieces Ellen Lunsford, Linda Miller, Iris Hooper, Jane Gibson and her nephew Victor Hughes.

Alma was a lifelong member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and served in many positions over the years, including Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. The family would like to express their special thanks to the church and especially to Ms. Ginger Pfister for her invaluable commitment to her and many other church members.

Alma has worked in several jobs throughout her career, including as a reporter for her home newspaper and as an accountant for Battleground Tire Co., where she worked for many years for the owners Brice and Max Gardner.

Alma enjoyed making homes for her family in Greensboro and also returned to her hometown of Roxboro as often as possible to visit the remaining family and friends. The family also thanks their neighbor, Gay Langston, who helped and supported Alma when she needed it most. Special thanks also go to Marian Rinehart, who was a good friend of Alma in the last years of her life.

A funeral service will be held in Westminster Gardens on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. by Dr. Jeff Johnsen held.

Instead of flowers, the family gratefully asks that memorials be dedicated to the mountain in Alma’s name. Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2600 Pisgah Church Rd., Greensboro, NC 27455.
