The Greensboro MedCenter on Drawbridge Parkway will have a freestanding emergency room and health center. Cone Health plans to open the facility in early 2022.
GREENSBORO – Cone Health is opening a freestanding emergency room and health center in northern Greensboro early next year, the health system said in a press release on Tuesday.
The Greensboro MedCenter on Drawbridge Parkway is located on Battleground Avenue and the Drawbridge Parkway, just off Interstate 840.
The $ 97 million project is Cone Health’s second freestanding emergency room. The emergency room’s 16 examination rooms and two observation beds will help reduce waiting times and volume at existing emergency room locations, the health system said.
The new 160,000-square-foot facility will also offer:
• Three swimming pools on site for water therapy.
• A teaching kitchen that helps families become more confident in preparing nutritious meals.

It is Cone Health’s fifth MedCenter, but the publication describes the new center as its “first 2.0 version of the concept”.
“We’re bringing these services together for convenience and making better health easier,” said Deno Adkins, vice president of Cone Health’s outpatient network, in the press release. “Healthcare consumers want to learn how to better cope with stress and lead healthier lives.
