Oakley, David Keith “Wildman”

May 23, 1955 – July 27, 2021

Mr. David Keith “Wildman” Oakley, 66, died on Tuesday July 27, 2021 at his Greensboro home.

David’s funeral service will be held on Sunday August 8th at 2:00 pm at Forbis & Dick – Stokesdale under the direction of Rev. Ron Tuck. The burial takes place in the Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be greeted with friends at the funeral home 8320 US 158 in Stokesdale on Saturday afternoon, August 7, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

David is from Guilford County and was born on May 23, 1955 to David Lee Oakley and Virginia Nichols Oakley. David recently retired from Gilbarco at 41 years of service, where his mechanical skills have served him well. He loved tinkering and could fix pretty much anything. David was a generous, happy man with a keen sense of humor. He will be very much missed by those who knew and loved him.

In his spare time, David could be seen gardening, fishing, traveling or running. Las Vegas was a popular travel destination. Most of all, spending time with family, children and grandchildren was his treasure on earth. His mother and son Dennis Keith Oakley preceded him in death.

His wife, Nancy Bradshaw Whittle of Greensboro, survived; Father, David Lee Oakley, Jr. of Reidsville; Daughter Lindsey Oakley Legge (Justin) of Summerfield; Stepson Howard Hamilton Whittle, IV from Greensboro ;; Stepdaughter Shelby Francis Whittle of Charlotte; Sisters Cindy Andrews (Roy) from Reidsville, Sherri Tuck (Ron) from Summerfield; Brother Jeff Oakley (Wendy) of High Point; 5 grandsons, Wyatt Oakley, Mason Turner, Kelsey Legge, Preston Legge, and Hudson Legge; and the mother of his children, Sandy Oakley of Reidsville.
