Dorothy Jacobs Obituary (1972-2021) – Greensboro, NC

Jacobs, Dorothy (Dolly) Campbell

July 6, 1972 – July 29, 2021

Dolly Campbell Jacobs passed away suddenly but peacefully at home in Greensboro, North Carolina on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was 49 years old and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and pastor.

Dolly was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member and later served as the youth minister of the Saint Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. A proud maroon tiger, she later earned her Divinity degree from Austin Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. She accepted her first calling to serve in the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, where she served as an alternate pastor for 18 years. Dolly loved the “girl time” with her daughters, the “beach time” on Bald Head Island and Sunset Beach, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the youth conference at Montreat in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and the porch and quiet time with her husband and wife Luke the laboratory.

Dolly preceded her grandparents Judy and Corbin Turpin and mother Lucy Turpin King in death. Adored by her family, community, and many members of the New Orleans and Greensboro community, Dolly leaves behind: her husband Bill Jacobs, daughters Sydney and CeCe Hunt, their Pop, Charlie King and wife Roma, their siblings Chip Campbell, Betsy Campbell and Kerri Simon and Bill’s children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro on Sunday, August 15 at 10 a.m. and will be broadcast live on www.fpcgreensboro.org.
