The Vikings don’t have to light the scoreboard to succeed, which they have already realized. Your style could suggest that low-score games can work well.

“We want to be patient with basketball,” Hackett said. “That works in our favor.”

Maslyn Mosbacher collected 19 points and also led the Northwest Defense with eight steals. Young scored 14 points, making four of Northwest’s six three-point baskets, and Sophia Apple scored 11 rebounds.

Young said there were signs that the Vikings might break through for a more consistent offensive.

“We all helped talk and listen,” she said. “It was a lot more efficient. Some of that comes from defense, of course. I think we can do it 100 times better. “

Anything can come together for Northwest.

“I expect the goal will be scored if we get the shots we’re supposed to,” Hackett said.

The Vikings know the tournament formula. They reached the title game of a similar three-day tournament in Knightdale last week before falling to Cardinal Gibbons.
