Girl drives from store to buy by way of Greensboro freely giving meals

GREENSBORO, NC (WGHP) – When Tanckii Obair takes to the streets, her weekly errands are more than just a shopping spree.

“Just giving someone a joyful experience instead of the hardship they might be going through,” she said.

She drives from shop to shop across Greensboro in hopes that people will notice the sign on the back of her SUV inviting her to get food from the attached car.

“You never know what a person is going through, and it can be situational,” Oair said.

Obair understands the challenges of the circumstances.

Her daughter Nalani received a liver transplant as an 8-month-old baby during the pandemic.

Before that, her family had the opportunity to stay in a Ronald McDonald house, Oair says.

Giving away food is her way of passing on the generosity she has experienced to others.

“I’ve never had the opportunity to give anything back before,” she said.

She has been doing this for about two months and hopes to continue helping people.

“I have a feeling it’s not just holidays that I want to do it for. It’s not a seasonal thing. People are constantly in need. “
