Greensboro enterprise proprietor hopes to convey leisure again to Gate Metropolis Boulevard | Eat Drink
Opens restaurant amid a pandemic, offers 40 jobs
GREENSBORO – To get traffic back to Gate City Boulevard, local business owner Mike Clark has come up with a new restaurant and playground, Box Office, for residents who want to eat and drink without battling the hustle and bustle of downtown from Greensboro.
Box Office Kitchen and Cocktails, located at 2800 W. Gate City Blvd., had its grand opening today, Mon September 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., and the ribbon cut near the Greensboro Coliseum Complex and various hotels instead of offering the area at least 40 new jobs between waiters, bartenders, cooks, hostesses etc.
The venue has your traditional brunch specials, happy hour, big screen TVs for sports, pool tables and themed nights.
Unlike traditional venues, Box Office offers board games like Jenga, UNO, Monopoly, Clue, etc. and a customizable Bubble Waffle Cone Ice Cream Bar with a cereal drill.
Clark, former owner of Greene Street Club, said it was important for him as a husband and father to realize the new chapter in life he was in and that it did not necessarily fit with his previous entrepreneurial path.
“As I thought about it, I realized that there are people like me. Young families who didn’t really want to be in the clubs but wanted to get out every now and then and have fun, ”he said.
He also knew he didn’t want it downtown. Clark wanted to bring entertainment back to Gate City Boulevard, where it was about 10 to 15 years ago
“In my opinion, it’s oversaturated. Everyone is trying to get a venue in this small area, ”said Clark.
The box office will take social distancing measures.
