Greensboro Farmers Market Hosts Annual Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Celebration Sat, July 17, 2021 | Eat Drink
Greensboro, NC -GFM, Inc. will be annual BLT & Tomato Celebration Day on Saturday, July 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Lawn on Lindsay Curb Market on the corner of Lindsay & Yanceyville Street.
Guest chef Tracy Furman (owner of the former Blue Spoon Café & Cooking School, Rivas Trattoria) and grill master Randy Barnes will prepare these delicious breakfast favorites. The signature sandwich comes with Neese’s bacon, market-related tomatoes Smith Farms, Lettuce, Duke’s mayonnaise on freshly baked artisan bread. Furman’s special recipe for a dill and cucumber salad made from market products as an accompaniment to the sandwich. Plates are available for a donation of US $ 10 per person. Pre-orders can be made in person during the Saturday or Wednesday markets in the “Info Hub”. Pre-orders for this popular event, which is expected to sell out early, are highly recommended. Customers with pre-orders will receive a free mini cheerwine with their order.
The market also hosts music by local musicians from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Colin Cutler (plays songs from his upcoming CD release Hot Pepper Jam) and Laura Jane Vincent. Picnic tables with seating are available, and guests are welcome to bring picnic blankets and stadium chairs. Fun activities for all ages are also offered on the lawn (hoola hoops, corn hole, etc.).
Market buyers can purchase tomatoes and products from vendors across the market, including some popular varieties such as Pink Girls, Goliath, Carolina Gold, German Johnson, Better Boy, Big Beef, Mountain Fresh, Heirloom Cherry, Sungold, and Cherokee Purple.
