On August 28, 2021, this world lost a humble servant of God, a loving father and husband, a loyal patriot, and the best friend that a person can have. Ken’s sense of humor and easygoing demeanor made him popular with everyone and his willingness to serve and help those in need made him stand out.

Ken was born on November 10, 1954 to Edward Lee Clifton and Dorothy Jean Clifton. He attended NC State University and served in the US Army, where he began his career in computing and networking.

In May 1985, Ken Gaye married Barbour Clifton and embarked on a 36 year adventure of dear friends, devoted services to his church, Wolfpack sports, cruise travel, conservative values, and his richest blessing – raising his daughter Kristina.

Ken leaves behind his wife, Gaye, daughter Kristina of the house, twin sister Kathy Triplett (Steve) of Sherrills Ford, NC, sister Kim Penley (Rick) of Hickory, NC, brother-in-law Donald Barbour (Mary) of Garner, NC, and nieces and nephew, Emily , Ben, Brad, Bradley, Micah, Craig, Kristen, and Hardy. He had already passed away from his parents.

A festive service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pisgah UMC with a viewing two hours before the service. The funeral at Salisbury National Cemetery takes place on Thursday at 9 a.m. with military honors. Please consider wearing something red in honor of Ken’s dedication to our country and NC state.
