Kenneth Warren Smith, 97, went home Tuesday, November 16, 2021 to be with his Lord and Savior.

The memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Mr. Smith is buried next to his wife in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family welcomes friends to church an hour before the service, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Born on October 20, 1924, in Selma, NC, to the late Robert Junius Smith and Catherine Colista Williams Smith, Kenneth was a longtime member of the Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church. He was very active in the Methodist Men, a former trustee and a member of the John Bennett Sunday School class. Kenneth was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army Air Corps. After 45 years of employment, he retired from Southern Bell. Kenneth was a former member of the Civitans and Telephone Pioneers. He had a passion for aviation, which he passed on to his daughters, and liked to tinker with all mechanical things. Kenneth obtained his private pilot license and enjoyed flying as a young man. He loved gardening and spent many hours in his garden. Kenneth was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend who was loved by many and will be missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents, his 40-year-old wife Shirley Angel Smith preceded him in death.

Those he remembered include his daughters Jeanette Smith Webb and Angela Smith Butler; his grandsons Caleb Laine Butler and Chance Kendell Webb; and other extended family and friends.
