Marguerite Williams Miller died in Greensboro, NC, on October 22, 2021, at the age of 90. Marguerite was born on February 24, 1931 in Shawboro, North Carolina, to the late Olive Forbes Williams and Lot Williams.
The funeral will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel under the direction of Rev. David Archer of Immanuel Baptist Church. Family welcomes friends from 12pm to 1pm at the Wilkerson Funeral Home.
After graduating from Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia as a Salutator, Marguerite graduated from Kee Business College. She met her husband, Bill, in church, and they were married on March 3, 1950. While Bill was with the Air Force in San Marcos, Texas, Marguerite served as a clerk in her church. She later worked at Chowan College before moving to East Carolina University, where she served as a secretary in the career planning and placement department until she retired in 1990.
A woman of deep faith, Marguerite was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Greenville, NC, where she served as a deacon, choir member, womens mission, meal director, and Sunday school member. When she moved to Greensboro, NC, in the past few years, she and Bill joined the First Baptist Church Greensboro ward, where Marguerite became a member and a loving friend in the Joy Sunday School class.
Marguerite was an accomplished cook who delighted the family with her delicious southern cuisine. She was also a talented gardener and avid reader. Most of all, she was known for her devotion to God and her family, her loyal friendships, and her kindness to all.
In addition to her parents, Marguerite also had little son William “Billy” Miller Jr. and her older brothers and sisters Elton “Buddy” Williams, Mary Williams Cayton, Roy Williams and Katherine Williams Barco in death.
Those who keep her memories are her beloved husband of 71, William “Bill” Miller; Children Mark Miller and wife Tammy of Greensboro and Wayne Miller and wife Amy of Walnut Cove; Grandson Pete Miller and wife Emily from Monroe, Ben Miller from St. Charles, Illinois, Jordan Miller, Jacob Miller, Jaxon Miller, and Bella Miller, all from Walnut Cove; and great-grandchildren Brinley Miller and Teagan Miller of Monroe, as well as nieces and nephews and friends.
