Melinda Bryant Obituary (1943-2021) – Greensboro, NC
Bryant, Melinda Lou (Lynn)
09/17/1943 – 09/21/2021
Melinda Lou (Lynn) Bryant, 78, of Greensboro, NC, walked home to God early in the morning on Tuesday, September 21, our Lord’s year 2021.
Lynn was a loving and devoted daughter, a beloved sister, and an inspiring aunt and irreplaceable friend. She will be forever remembered for her gentle manner, the help she gave to others, and her many accomplishments. She will be remembered as a faithful and faithful friend by those who knew her well. And her family will remember her laughs and sense of humor, larger than life smiles, great hugs, and generosity.
Lynn was a lifelong learner who loved to teach. In her spare time, she loved to play golf, read, play sports and have fun with family and friends. She was a great cook and loved celebrating July 4th with a BBQ.
Lynn was born on September 17, 1943 in Lexington, Kentucky, where she spent her early teens and later moved with her parents and sister to Greensboro, NC, where she attended Grimsley High School and performed in the band.
Lynn was always ready to reach out to others in need. Their special friends Ernie and Kay and Angie and Dennie can testify to their ties of respect and friendship that even death does not cancel. Her memory will forever remain in their hearts and in the hearts of their many other close friends and neighbors.
Lynn was a professional teacher and mentor to other teachers after initially retiring from the Spartanburg school system in South Carolina before returning to North Carolina to work in education before eventually retiring.
Lynn had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with her family. Aside from her family life, Lynn was also an educated woman who graduated from Guilford College, Appalachian and the University of South Carolina, where she received her PhD in Education.
Since her in death her parents, Mr. Wesley Russell Bryant and Mrs. Lucille Evans Bryant, and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frances Glaze and her husband Mr. William H. Glaze, the nephew William M. Cooke and his wife Cynthia, beloved niece Ann B. Meng, and her husband Steve Meng, and loving nephew David R. Cooke and wife Scarlett. In addition, the great-nephews Christopher Cooke and Zack Cooke and the great-niece Lauren Cooke survive.
Lynn has left her earthly body and we all mourn her loss. But we are reminded today of their joyful reunions with family members in heaven as we look forward to the appointed time to see them in our Father’s Kingdom. Until we meet again, we love and miss you, Lynn.
A funeral service will be held in Westminster Gardens on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
The family gratefully requests that memorials be erected in Lynn’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4615 Dundas Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
