Change collection days

The city of High Point’s bulky waste collection will move to a bi-weekly schedule starting November 1st. Residents’ collection days coincide with their recycling collection days.

The environmental services division of the public service offers rubbish, recycling, garden waste and bulky goods collections throughout the city on a weekly basis. However, bulk collection volumes have increased significantly and are often delayed when staff or equipment shortages arise.

High Point City Council approved the move to a bi-weekly collective gathering at the city council meeting on August 16. A bi-weekly schedule will reduce fuel and overtime costs, enable more consistent collections, increase route efficiency, and protect and relieve congested waste collection staff.

The garbage collection is intended for the occasional pick-up of large items such as sofas, chairs, mattresses, carpets, appliances, etc. You can find information on timetable changes, permitted items, pick-up days and more at

Audition to play
