Mr. Robert James Foster entered peacefully into eternal rest with his youngest son by his bedside on Saturday April 17, 2021.

Robert was born in Lancaster, South Carolina on April 27, 1931, the son of Dr. John C. Clinton and Bernice Foster were born.

Robert was a loyal and dedicated member of Trinity AME Zion Church until his health deteriorated. During his tenure, he was a loyal member of the Board of Trustees, the Senior Usher Board, the Gospel Choir, the Half-Century Club and the Men’s Progressive Club.

Robert had a very creative mind and was exceptionally gifted with his hands. As a result, he worked exclusively as a welder, cement refiner, carpenter and construction master.

On August 28, 1954, Robert married the inseparable love of his life, Randy James, and they later moved to Greensboro, North Carolina. He was a dedicated and loving provider and loved looking after his wife and four children. Not only did Robert love his family, he always had a heart for helping others. He was a member of the Guilford County Emergency Management Team, the Kings Forest Neighborhood Association, the Concerned Citizens of Northeast Greensboro, and the Eastside Civitan Club.

Robert was a member of St. John Lodge # 12 F. & AM; Greensboro Consistory # 106 AASR Freemasonry (PHA); Caliph Temple # 144 AEAONMS; The United Supreme Council 33 ° AASR of Freemasonry (PHA); and Order of the Eastern Star (PHA). He was instrumental in founding CW Lawrence # 837 in May 1986.

Robert will surely be missed by his children Dennis Foster Sr. (Sherry) of Ridgeway, VA; Zanzella Foster Savoy (Terry) of Greensboro, NC; and GySgt. (Ret.) Darryl Foster (Shirley) from Wake Forest, NC; Brother Richard Foster (Jane) of Owings Mills, Maryland; Sisters, Johnnie Mae Banks of District of Columbia and Willa Taylor of Cincinnati, OH; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; Goddaughter Mikosha “Connie” Gatson (Darryl); very special friends, Leon and Codella Phipps; and caring neighbors, Dr. Goldie Wells, Andre and Kimberly Allen, Theodore and Shirley Vanstory; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

The family tour is on Monday, April 26th at 3:00 p.m. and Masonic Rights between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Chapel. A service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 12 noon at Maplewood Cemetery in Greensboro, NC.
