Jamaican restaurant opens

Dixon’s Jamaican flavor opened at 3261 S. Church St. at the Southwood Square Strip Center in Burlington.

The restaurant is a stationary facility of a food truck.

The menu includes authentic Jamaican dishes such as curry chicken, jerk chicken, oxtail, and rice and peas.

The fresh market Greensboro stores at 3712 Lawndale Drive and 1560 Highwoods Blvd. will hold a customer appreciation party on Saturday from 9am to 11am with free coffee, juice and continental breakfast. Free samples from all over the store are available from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. At 2 p.m., try samples from a freshly cracked Parmigiano Reggiano wheel.

Reusable bags will be given away and a gift basket will be raffled off among the first 100 customers.

In addition, teachers and staff at Guilford County Schools with ID will receive 20% off purchases through August 27th.

Café helps cancer research

In honor of the late co-founder Lori Newcomb, Newks Restaurant accepts donations for the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance until September 30th.
