South Elm Avenue in Greensboro will stay closed to site visitors on Saturday evening | Native information

GREENSBORO – South Elm Street, from Market Street to Lewis Street, is closed to traffic from 4pm to 11pm on Saturdays through December 26th.

This allows restaurants and retail businesses to work in the public priority area, while also providing ample space for pedestrians to maintain social distance.

This Saturday, the section of Elm Street from Market Street to Washington Street will also be closed for an organized event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Downtown visitors are reminded to practice the NC Department of Health and Human Services “three Ws” when leaving their homes:

• Wear a cloth to cover your nose and mouth.

• Wait two meters apart and avoid close contact with people who do not live in your household.

• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.

The street has been closed on weekends since August, as part of an initiative approved by the city council that grants special permits to allow restaurants to temporarily expand seating in the driveway.
