UPS is hiring many good staff in Greensboro on the Digital Hiring Truthful
Jobs can be hard to come by during a pandemic, but some companies, such as parcel delivery services, do reasonably well in these circumstances.
No wonder United Parcel Service, better known as UPS, is holding a one-day hiring event in Greensboro – or at least an online event for Greensboro. It will do so on Friday, October 30th, the day the company will hold around 250 similar recruitment fairs in other parts of the country – some virtual, some not.
UPS holds these hiring fairs, known as Brown Fridays, once a year to get extra help with business during the holiday season. However, there is a greater need for workers this year as there are many more Christmas gifts on offer due to the pandemic. Buying and giving is online.
The Greensboro event is virtual. Applicants check into a virtual lobby and then take part in online interviews with UPS Human Resources representatives.
The company plans to hire at least 50,000 new employees nationwide as part of the events – and UPS representatives will post job vacancies locally.
In the Greensboro region, UPS plans to recruit around 1,100 jobs – including driver assistants, package handlers and seasonal drivers.
Many people who work for UPS say they work their people hard, but add that the jobs are very beneficial.
According to promotional material for the hiring event, “Seasonal positions at UPS are often a foot in the door to a full-time position – and great careers for many. 37 percent of UPS seasonal workers returned to permanent employment last year after the vacation. Approximately 123,000 UPS employees – nearly a third of the company’s US workforce – have started in seasonal positions. “
