Wreaths All Over Greensboro: Keep in mind, Honor, Educate
You can help remember and honor our local heroes by sponsoring or attending the Wreaths Across Greensboro event this Saturday, December 16.
A deeply symbolic gesture in honor of the heroes of the Triad began with a simple idea – one of a so-called “naval father” and a “normal father” as they call themselves.
Mike LaPeirre and Wade Harvey formed Wreaths Across Greensboro after a moment of knowledge. “We thought a trip to DC to attend the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony would be great. But then we thought six kids, five hours, four stops along the way, three days, two cars and a speeding ticket could get in ours. So we decided it might be better to do something local, “they explained.
Each year they raise funds to buy more than 1,000 wreaths that volunteers place on veteran graves in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro. This year’s fundraising goal is $ 20,000. If you’d like to sponsor a wreath, you can do so here.
Everyone is invited to the event this Saturday, December 16, at 11 a.m. Forest Lawn Cemetery is located at 3901 Forest Lawn Drive in Greensboro. Meghann Mollerus, host of the Good Morning Show, is proud to be the master of ceremonies for the event.
