WWE Starrcade 2017 Outcomes: Types vs. Mahal, Natalya vs. Charlotte In Metal Cage and Greensboro Match Winner
On Saturday night, the WWE Starrcade 2017 event was held in Greensboro, North Carolina as a non-televised WWE house show. The classic WCW event received no coverage on the WWE Network, which surprised fans who wanted to see the new version of the classic pay-per-view. Nevertheless, the live fans experienced some surprises that night, including performances by several legends who were involved in the WCW at the time. Several games have also been added to the match card that may not have originally been reported. Here are the latest WWE Starrcade 2017 match results and highlights.
Saturday night’s WWE Starrcade results were reported on social media and through wrestling sites like ProWrestling. In the opening game of the evening, Bobby Roode faced his rival Dolph Ziggler. To add even more to the nostalgia of the Starrcade event, a special Enforcer was added to the match, and it was Arn Anderson. He would consider the outcome of the match when he once met a spinebuster on “The Showoff”. Ultimately, it was Bobby Roode who came out on top after hitting Dolph with the Glorious DDT. A fan video posted on Twitter shows Roode delivering the finisher and “Double A” Arn Anderson raising his arm in victory.
A 12-man tag team match was part of the Greensboro event map, and according to fans on Twitter, Rusev is pretty much over with fans due to the crowd reaction at the show. Rusev played with Mike Kanellis, The Colons and The Bludgeon Brothers against Breezango, The Ascension, Sin Cara and Tye Dillinger. Erick Rowan eventually landed the winning pinfall on Tye Dillinger for his side. After the game, the Bludgeon Brothers destroyed everyone else on their team except Rusev. Former WWE SmackDown Women Champion Naomi also clinched a pinfall win against Tamina, despite Lana trying to interfere in the match.
Dustin Rhodes appeared as wrestling as “The Natural” when he faced Dash Wilder in honor of his father “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. A tribute to Dusty was shown while Dustin used original WCW theme music for his pre-game appearance. Rhodes won the battle with a bulldog to get the pinfall, and then shot a post-match promo about his late father and the Starrcade pay-per-view story.
“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair also spoke during the event, speaking to WWE backstage in a video posted on the WWE Twitter page.
Shinsuke Nakamura got a chance at the WWE United States Championship when he faced Baron Corbin. While Corbin won the Survivor Series on SmackDown Live last Sunday, Nakamura was one of the early eliminations for Team SmackDown in the PPV Main Event. Shinsuke won the Starrcade match tonight, but unfortunately not in the way he’d hoped. Corbin was disqualified after beating Nakamura with a steel chair, meaning “The Lone Wolf” remains champion. There was a Fatal Four-Way for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team titles. In the match, the current champions The Usos defeated the opponents New Day, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, as well as Chad Gable with Shelton Benjamin. The win came when The Usos pinfall Chad Gable to keep the titles. The legendary Tag Team Rock ‘n’ Roll Express was there before this match.

Just weeks after handing over the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair, Natalya got another chance to win her title back. The WWE Starrcade event was pretty much held in Flair Country, so it was only natural that Charlotte’s father, Ric Flair, was there too. Before her title defense in the big steel cage, Charlotte spoke on Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina, about what it all meant for her. His daughter Charlotte introduced them. In the Steel Cage Match, Charlotte won the match when she joined Natalya with Figure Eight. After the game, Ric Flair came to the ramp to meet Charlotte for a curtain.
At the main event, WWE Champion AJ Styles defended the belt against Jinder Mahal, also in a steel cage. “The Modern Day Maharaja” recently challenged Styles to a title rematch at the upcoming WWE Clash of Champions 2017 event, but had an earlier chance to reclaim his championship on Saturday night in Greensboro. Before the big steel cage main event, the Singh Brothers tweeted a photo and commented on Mahal’s appearance on the Saturday night show.
During the game, AJ Styles got the Calf Crusher on Jinder Mahal several times, but the Singh Brothers interfered to end things. At the finish, AJ climbed the cage wall while Jinder tried to get out of the cage door. Styles kicked Jinder in the head the door and then escaped the cage to keep the WWE Championship.
The good news for fans who didn’t attend the WWE Starrcade event live in Greensboro is that at least one tweet indicates that this will be an upcoming WWE Network special. As far as the time and date are displayed, this will be announced.
